These selections are from my project, Voices In The Landscape. The seminal photograph-Pray-was taken in Pittsfield, MA, in 1984. Years later I started to expand the series as I started to recognize the connections with subsequent photographs. I believe that there is an inherent need for people to be heard and their existence acknowledged: "I exist, I breathe, I am of value". The world is an incredibly competitive and often brutally harsh place. I am intrigued by the messages that are left as clues as to what someone, or some institution, was thinking at the time.
